This Earth Day, Saturday, April 21, FSLC has adopted a spot on San Leandro Creek at Hegenberger Blvd in Oakland to cleanup. This is an area that is highly impacted by urban activity. It is typically a place where 50-75 bags of trash can be removed very easily! This is also where San Leandro Creek makes its way into San Leandro Bay connected with the Bay itself. There is lots of wildlife and our work will be greatly appreciated by those birds and animals, I’m sure! When we were there last on a Coastal Cleanup a few years back we were joined by many great egrets, snowies and even a black crowned night heron!
We will provide snacks and water, vinyl gloves and garbage bags. We suggest you wear heavy shoes or boots and clothes you won’t mind getting dirty. Please hit the link and sign up your organization, class, church group or club! Or, feel free to come solo. We may hit HegenBurgers (right next door to the site) for a celebratory (veggie or beef) burger afterward. https://www.tripadvisor.com/Restaurant_Review-g32810-d497395-Reviews-Hegenburger_s_Restaurant-Oakland_California.html
Be prepared for a day when you will be making an impact, an activity you can feel really good about participating in!
