Friends of San Leandro Creek are hosting the 3rd nonnative plant removal on two dates in April. The two work days are April 20 & 27 from 10:00 AM-3:00 PM. We will meet at Chabot Park, below the playground. Volunteers do not need to work both work days; one is fine. Scout troops, clubs and groups are welcome, as well as individuals. We will be removing invasive plants on the 1st work date, and covering the area with cardboard and mulch on the 27th. We recommend that volunteers wear long pants and sleeves, sturdy shoes, and mosquito repellant. Bring gloves and tools (clippers, shovels) if you have them. FSLC will provide tools, snacks, drinks and a free pizza lunch for volunteers. For more information, call Susan Levenson with Friends of San Leandro Creek at 510-577-6069. All participants are required to fill out a waiver form. Waivers can be downloaded from the FSLC site, (WWW.FSLC.org) and additional copies will be available on the event days. Children under 14 years of age are welcome, but must be accompanied by an adult. The Friends will certify volunteer hours for community service for schools.
